Later
Further to my post of 28th January in which I stated I would tell you more about it later, I am posting to tell you more about it.
I was told in the off the record meeting that my position would be safe - something about my having huge potential* although I dread to think what for. I was told this by someone who had very little say in the decision process so I wasn't totally convinced I would still have a job two weeks later. As things turned out, redundancy was given to one of the other two team members anyway.
Despite the reason for getting rid of one of us being that we don't get enough work to keep us all occupied, we've had so much work to do this past month that I've been getting pretty darn stressed. We're still mighty busy although things are beginning to ease off a bit and not a moment too soon. The chap who's leaving due to redundancy will be gone next week and the other chap remaining will be off on holiday so I and my huge potential* will be holding the fort all by ourselves for a whole five days.
Incidentally, I had my appraisal the other week and it turns out that getting cross when people don't want to give you money really impresses big cheeses.
*I like having huge potential. It's a way of impressing people without my actually having to do anything impressive.
